Introduction:
Methylmalonic acid (MMA) is a dicarboxylic acid, a methylated derivative of malonic acid and an isomer of succinic acid (succinic acid). In vivo, methylmalonate and coenzyme A are combined through thioester bonds to form methylmalonyl-CoA, which is isomerized into succinyl-CoA by methylmalonyl-CoA mutase (vitamin B12 is a coenzyme ), in this way enters the tricarboxylic acid cycle, which is one of the body's anaplerotic reactions.
Chemical Properties: Crystal. Soluble in water, easily soluble in alcohol and ether.
